About the Database (What is a database?)

The Database of Adult Literacy Research in Ontario contains research from 1980 to date about Adult Literacy in Ontario. It was built by AlphaPlus in collaboration with the National Adult Literacy Database. (NALD) We will be adding new research content on an ongoing basis.

Searching

You can search by title or author or by using keywords that represent your topic of interest. To learn which topics or subjects are included in the database, choose Browse Topics to view an alphabetical list. For more detailed information about searching, click Search Help.

Search Results

Each search result is called a record. A record will include information like title and author and a brief descriptive summary of the research document. Records will offer Full Text links to on-line documents when available.

How to Locate Research Documents

Online

When available, click on the Full Text link in the search result (or record) to view the document on-line.

Print

When no on-line document is available, you will need to locate the document in print format.

Library loan

You can search your local public library catalogue or a nearby college or university library catalogue. Ask these libraries about inter-library loan.
